Dr. Meg Lowman recognized by Dictor | Martin with its 3rd annual "World of Difference Award"

On April 26th, DICTOR | MARTIN was pleased and proud to present its 2010 “World of Difference Award” to one of our clients, Dr. Margaret (“Canopy Meg”) Lowman, to recognize her many community service achievements in Sarasota County as well as around the world.  At a gathering of 50 + friends, family and colleagues of Dr. Lowman at the Powel Crosley Mansion, her bio was shared by her good friend and Tree Foundation President, Ms. Gerri Aaron.  She also received a proclamation from Sarasota County read by Commissioner John Thaxton, recognizing her work in conserving treetop environments and publishing literature & educating millions of children on canopy ecology, as well as her work to create the canopy walkway at Myakka State Park via the TREE Foundation she helped to establish.  Other guests giving tribute to Dr. Lowman included:  Dr. Mike Michalson, President of New College; Mr. Mike Pender, CPA; Ms. Carolyn Johnson; and one of her students, Mr. Bryson Voirin.

The evening included a video presentation highlighting Dr. Lowman’s work locally as well as from trips ranging from India to the Amazon.

Upon accepting her award, Dr. Lowman thanked her presenters, and took opportunity to showcase the Tree Foundation, a non-profit organization she helped to found almost 10 years ago to promote research, education & exploration to advance the conservation of our planet’s botanical resources and the ecosystems dependent on them.  (Note:  for more information on the TREE Foundation, or to make a donation go to:  http://www.treefoundation.org/.)

The evening concluded with comments made by Mr. Wayne Dictor, expressing our firm’s deep gratitude for her spirit of “giving back” to her community, a philosophy to which Dictor | Martin is also deeply committed.  The 10” pillar and globe award was presented to her by Mr. Steve Martin.

All of us at DICTOR | MARTIN celebrate Meg for her contributions to society, which go well beyond the boundaries of Sarasota, and (we believe) will benefit our world for generations to come.

Congratulations, Meg! Keep up the good work!
